Hi Mika, here's your newest self-help stuff newsletter

Hi Mika,

I hope you've been getting lots of refreshing
and rejuvenating sleep ;-)

Here's now the promised sequel with even more
tips and tricks, though not too many more.

Mostly, there are two major ones:

One: Boring books:

Seriously, mildly boring bed-time reading can put
you right to sleep. They don't say that for
nothing.

And definitely do NOT read thrillers or anything
else that might keep you engaged.

One book I used to use: the writings
of a certain German philosopher. The sentences
were so complex and convoluted that I couldn't
keep track of them, yet the writing itself was
so boring I didn't really care and wasn't
stressed by the fact that I couldn't follow.
It worked like a charm.

Find a book about something that doesn't interest
you at all. Something that is fairly complicated,
and yet excruciatingly boring. I"m not going to
suggest any specific books. You know best
what that would be for you.

You could get a book or two on that from a
garage sale, or from a library sale, or from
the bargain table at the bookstore.

And here's the ultimate technique:

The quantum touch 12 color meditation.

This is what literally stopped my ongoing insomnia
practically overnight.

Actually mid-day! We were doing this thing
at a weekend workshop. We were all lying on
the floor and as the instructor guided us in
this meditation, I kept falling asleep. Now
this was happening to me, the ultimate fussy
sleeper. I was lying on a wooden floor!!!

And later that night, I did it again, and
I never made it past the fourth or fifth
color. When I woke up in the middle of the night,
I would proceed where I left off, and I STILL
had to finish the rest of the colors in the morning,
when it surprisingly did NOT make me go
back to sleep. No idea how it works, but
for me it worked incredibly well.

Here goes:

Go to bed. Get comfortable and turn off
the light. Breathe slowly, calmly, and close
your eyes. Then imagine calling forth a series
of colors, one at the time, and imagine them
surrounding you, head to toe. Once you've got
that image, release the color -- just see it
go "poof" or fade away, and do the next color,
until you're all the way through, or asleep.

Like me, you might want to make sure you'll
do the rest of the colors later. You don't want
to get imbalanced...

The colors in the proper sequence:

white
purple
indigo

copper
silver
gold

yellow (mustard)
green
blue-green

blue
magenta
mother-of-pearl

If you're still awake, take a few
deep breaths, imagine yourself sink
more deeply into your bed, and repeat.

Good luck. I hope this will be
helpful.

Sweet dreams and a great week!

Elisabeth
