Welcome to the second installment of my newsletter
Internet Marketing Step-by-Step.
Like I said last time, today, we're going to start
with the following two topics (which kind of go
together:
a) Affiliate Marketing: This is basically a way
to tell your friends (and others) about a product
you like. When they buy it, you get a commission.
b) Article Marketing, where you write/publish
short articles to send people to those
affiliate links and get them to buy stuff, which then
provides you with a commission.
We'll skip the actual writing for the moment and
deal with something you'll have to do first:
What will you write about and what will you market?
in other words: What are you really interested in?
Think about it. Go for a walk. Do something relaxing
and let your mind wander. What are your hobbies?
What kinds of things do you like to read?
What do you know a lot about that others don't?
Don't be shy! You may be surprised. Take notes.
And then, go to Google and type in your topics and
see how many entries there are. Probably millions.
Narrow it down a bit. If you put in sports, get
more specific. Soccer maybe. And so on.
Next, go to the following URL:
This is the flagship of ezine publishing and a fantastic
resource for learning about what others are writing
about and what people want to read.
I'll tell you more about that next time.
For now, I want you to browse. You can either
type your keyword in the top search bar and see
what comes up, then click on an article and
once it comes up, read it.
And THEN: scroll down. You'll see three
sets of 10 articles. The second one is the
set of the most-read articles.
Read them all.
Also, scroll all the way down to the bottom of
these three sets and you'll find a note on
how many people have read the article at the
top of the screen since it's been published.
This gives you a good idea of how much interest
there is. Then go back to the most popular
articles, pick the first one, read it, and
check how many people have read THAT
article.
They've practically done all the research for you.
Have fun with it. And see you next time.
Take care,
Elisabeth
